COLUMNIST MUGA IS JUST CHEEKY!

The Star newspaper columnist Wycliffe Muga never ceases to baffle. The other time he was talking about how prudent it was to plant tea in the Mau, which he says is environmentally friendly. This was in support of the former president, Daniel Moi, being allowed to continue keeping his tea farm/factory in the water catchment area that is the Mau.

Muga never ceases to amaze me at the way he looks at issues. Even when issues are as clear-cut as light and darkness, he still must find a way of bringing in some grey areas. Today he is saying that the opinion poll results that were recently released by Infotrak Harris could be faulty. That Raila Odinga was said to be the most popular leader in Kenya today, more than even Mwai Kibaki does not seem to sit well with Muga. Nobody can say for sure that the results are 100% accurate.

But to attempt to introduce hypothetical questions that were not part of the opinion questions that were asked (which i am not aware of and i am sure he may not be aware of) is rather cheeky. Why should we doubt when the pollsters tell us that they did a survey and then give us the results?

Unless Muga carries out his own survey and asks the questions that he wants to ask, let us give the Infotrak Harris poll results the benefit of the doubt. Why see the mischief even where there is none?

Otherwise, Muga would seem to be the kind of student who when he goes to the exam room, failing to answer any questions, goes ahead to set his own questions and answers them. Rightly off course!!!
