Tusker All Stars is here but…

I have been watching the Tusker All Stars show on Citizen TV this evening and from what I saw, I am disappointed. I do not know whether I am expecting too much from the stars or it is just that the show is boring. One of the things that I really don’t like or even understand is the role of the two super fans in one of the two bars. What is super about them? I was left asking. Surely, there is nothing that we don’t know that they are telling us because the audience has watched the performance. They need to tell us more than what we already know. I wish that we had expert opinion rather than the pedestrian and superficial comments that are coming from the lady and the gentleman. Unless Tusker has a lot of money to throw about, I don’t see these two playing any significant role in the show. And if they were supposed to provide comic relief this is it not just coming through because they are just too dry! Except for Patricia who did an English-Kiswahili song, and Alpha who did a Kikuyu song, none of the other artists has shown the fire that I saw in either TPF 3 or TPF4. These artists raised very high standards and what they are now offering cannot satisfy our thirst from star performers. The two MCs, Gaetano and Eve De’Souza, are yet to impress me. Maybe it is too early to judge them and the whole show. I hope that in the coming days the show will cause excitement and there will be passionate performances from the artists, who are supposedly the best from East Africa in the name of talent in the entertainment scene in the region. Looking at the whole thing, I do not know what Tusker hopes to achieve by having two characters of Asian origin in the show. I am not being racist, but really, I don’t see the reason why we should have the two of them there because their performance is not that super. Perhaps one would argue that there is some value they bring to the show. But what is the value that they are adding that any other East African would not add? I am waiting for more because this lot is supposed to be the best that can be found in the East African region. Tusker, give us more please, and better! We will not just accept anything because it is from Tusker. Never!
